Frequently Asked Questions about Your App-Enabled Food Thermometer
Q: What smart devices are compatible with the iChef ET-11 Direct+Connect Roasting Thermometer?
A: See lower left of this page for the current compatibility list.
Q: I connected my ET-11 and don’t see any temperature on the app. What should I do?
A: Please disconnect the ET-11 Direct+Connect Roasting Thermometer from your smart device and close the app completely. Reconnect the ET-11 to your smart device first, and then open the RediChek app on your phone or tablet. Once the ET-11 is connected, you should be able to see the probe temperature on the app. If you still don’t see a temperature, please make sure you’ve connected the ET-11 to a device that is compatible (list can be viewed below).
NOTE: For Apple users, sometimes a notification pops-up on the screen when you connect the ET-11 to your device asking for permission to use the Microphone on your device. Please make sure you allow this permission. If you decline it, you will not be able to use the ET-11 with your device. To verify this, open your iPhone or iPad’s Settings app, go to Privacy, then go to Microphone and switch the RediChek app “On” or to green.
Q: Why do I get HHH or LLL for a temperature when I plug my probe into the unit?
A: 99% of the time, your thermometer’s probe has failed. The probe may have been melted, severely pinched or immersed in water. Any of these would cause the probe to short out and give the error code HHH, LLL or a false temperature reading.
If a probe is malfunctioning due to moisture accumulation inside (for example, when it is used in a smoker, which has a high level of humidity), it can usually be made to work again by the following procedure:
1.) Place probe and wire (not entire transmitter) in a small baking pan and put it in an oven that you have preheated to 250oF.
2.) Leave in for one hour, then remove and allow it to cool. When cool, try using probe again and test.
If the probe is still under warranty, please either call or email our customer service department (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the model number of your unit and we’ll replace it, free of charge. If the probe is out of warranty, replacement probes are available for purchase on our website: www.maverickhousewares.com.
